$2,150 towards $2,500

Three years ago Natalie and I lost our 3 year-old niece Violet to a rare form of pediatric brain cancer, DIPG. My brother Stephen and sister-in-law Madeline started the Violet Foundation in her honor, with two ends in mind.

1. Help families bear the financial burden of the worst time in their lives.

Often when a kid gets a cancer diagnosis, at least one parent would need to step back from work to take their kid to doctor's appointments, treatments, or travel for the best available care for their child. The Violet Foundation's family grants up to $5000 give immediate assistance to pay for rent, utilities, late mortgage payments, and medical equipment to keep their heads above water. In some cases they are used to give the family one last family trip or pay for funeral expenses.

2. Invest in scientific research to advance treatments and outcomes for kid's in the future with a brain cancer diagnosis.

My niece was given the same standard of care as Neil Armstrong's daughter when she was diagnosed in 1962. Science and technology has progressed so much since then, but funding for this type of research is not lucrative for pharmaceutical companies and comes mostly from fundraising exactly like this. To date, the Violet Foundation has funded 12 research grants from brilliant leader's in their fields, like these.

The Violet Foundation is 100% volunteer-run and all donations are distributed to these two ends.

Please join me in supporting real change. Let’s support good in the world and make a difference. Help us ease some of the financial pressures so parents can focus on their son or daughter in treatment for a brain tumor.
